PRIPPIT
Prippit is a product of Western Computer Sciences. It is a Windows based system that operates With Windows 95, 98, XP, 2000, NT and VISTA. The system prepares control files for machine tools from either CAD drawings (PRIPPIT 2200) for more complex parts or directly from text command files(PRIPPIT 1000) for simpler parts.

PRIPPIT is designed specifically for NC punch press or laser applications where the part programmer desires good control over the WAY the parts are produced on the machine. It handles, in a natural manner, the types of problems encountered in punch press and laser work. Included are: common patterns, multiple parts, tool sort, table optimization, auto index tools, flame cutters, lasers, flip, mirror and rotate transformations, screen plot, hard copy plot, plus many other features that make part programming faster and more error free.

There are two types of productivity that are important in the production of parts with NC equipment. These are part programmer productivity and machine productivity. The PRIPPIT programming system significantly improves both areas. The part programmer productivity is improved since the system provides powerful commands that reliably generate complex patterns and multiple parts. The machine productivity is improved, particularly for short runs, by the fact that good parts are produced with fewer or no trial runs. Most of the data input errors and essentially all of the formatting errors are eliminated because of the ease of input, error checking and plotting verification. For long runs, the table optimization feature significantly reduces table travel and machine time.

The PRIPPIT system lets the user program multiple parts in a very natural manner. The complete part program for a single part is drawn or programmed. The part programmer then specifies the number of parts to be punched in each direction on the sheet. The system generates the full set of parts and optimizes the turret movement by collecting the common tool punches together for the overall sheet. The optimization sequence and the range of optimization are controllable by the part programmer. Sophisticated part programming techniques are available that permit the use of subprograms or canned cycles. Programming different parts on the same sheet is also straight forward. For those NC controllers with internal macro capabilities (line of holes, bolt hole circle, multiple parts, etc.) PRIPPIT will generate the correct format for the controller. This results in much shorter controller files. A single part program can generate control files for a complete family of parts using part program variables. For this type of application the part programming and testing is radically reduced.

The user may also perform a table optimization function which results in reduced punch press time. For long runs this can significantly improve machine productivity. The system is designed to be easy and natural to use for the normally encountered sheet metal problems and yet have sophisticated capabilities for the exceptional cases.

The video display provides an excellent method of quickly plotting the part and generating the part program. It is easy to see the input data, verify its correctness and to make any necessary corrections to the data. The screen plot feature lets the user measure the part similar to using an inspection machine. The system easily zooms to different areas so the user can see the part at high resolution. This screen plot inspection feature eliminates the majority of any remaining errors.

PRIPPIT will interface with most of the popular CAD systems. If existing CAD drawings are available this interface can further increase productivity and reduce errors.
